When Sea Nettle mate, the female catches the male's sperm with her mouth, where the fertilized sperm begins to develop. Once the fertilized sperm becomes a flower-shaped polyp, it detaches from the mother and attaches itslef to a solid surface on which it undergoes asexual reproduction, creating more polyps that eventually reach adulthood and restart the cycle.
